On February 22, 2015 most people watching the Oscar’s will be in awe of Hollywood’s finest actors and actresses.
Here at Rug Street, it is all about the carpet for us…the “red carpet” that is.
We are talking 16,500 square feet of gorgeous red fibers that make the event! And apparently we are not the only ones who think the carpet is an important part of the event either. According to an article in The Hollywood Reporter, a red carpet runner that size, 33’ wide by 500’ long, can cost an estimated amount of $25,000. Something that grand makes a pretty big impression.
The first red carpet appearance in Hollywood was made in 1922 for the premier of Sid Grauman’s Robin Hood at the Egyptian Theatre. However, it was not until 1966 that folks at home watching the Oscar’s would see the truly red carpet, since televisions were only black and white until that year.
If you need a red carpet runner for your Oscar viewing party, we have got you covered. Learn more about Rug Street Red Carpet Runners here.
