Simple Tailgating Tips
The official season of tailgating is upon us. So load up, dress up in your team colors and have some fun before, and maybe even after, the big game. Similar to camping, the hard part is the preparation, but the more you do in advance, the more you can enjoy yourself once you arrive. Below are some simple, but important, tailgating tips:
Know the restrictions
- Understand what you can and cannot do when it comes to parking, alcohol, and BBQ’s/fire pits
- Be sure to know what time you can arrive and when you have to leave
Get there early
- Allow 3-4 hours before the games starts so you will have plenty of time to set-up, enjoy and then pack/clean up
Find the perfect spot
- Keep an eye on where the restrooms are – you want to be close…but not too close
Don’t forget your essentials
- Paper plates, plastic silverware, cups, serving utensils
- Chairs, turf tent rug (available in 12 awesome team colors), table, tent for shade
- Sunscreen, water, first aid kit
- Cooler and food
Show your team spirit
- It does not hurt to dress up your space with some team colors and swag
- Remember to always show good sportsmanship
- HELPFUL IDEA: Help your guest find you by using a unique decoration that they know about, even if it is as simple as certain colored balloons.
Coordinate your menu and who is bringing what
- Don’t try and bring everything yourself, split up responsibilities with the people who are joining you
Clean up after yourself
- Good thing you brought that garbage bag that is noted above!
- Remember to fully extinguish any coals or wood that may have been used in a fire pit or grill
Although we cannot help with any wins for your team, we hope you find these tailgating tips helpful!
